An enhancement of national political power occurred in the "Southern Rim," as political scientists refer to those Sunbelt states from Georgia and Florida westward to Clark County, Nevada, and the ten counties of southern California. As this trend continues, a major shift in national politics will occur. Texas, with a delegation in size second to California, stands to play a larger role in national politics than ever before.
